The Lewis School of Languages offers its students an extensive programme of free-time activities during the summer months.
The activities usually take place in the afternoons after class or at weekends. Join in and you will discover the most interesting parts of Barcelona such as the Sagrada Familia or the Gothic Quarter. You can also take part in our Spanish culture and dance classes, go to the cinema, dine out on 'tapas' or discover Barcelona's varied nightlife. Some of the activities are free, while for others a small charge will be made to cover entrance fees, transport costs, etc.
At the weekend we organise day-trips outside Barcelona. You'll be able to visit the Costa Brava, with its rocky coastline, the mediaeval city of Girona, with its unique Jewish quarter, or Montserrat, the centre of Catalonian culture and identity.
The activity programme is organised in fortnightly blocks, which change regularly, so that students can take part in and enjoy a wide variety of different activities. Our Christmas and Easter Courses have their own special social and cultural programme. This is your chance to experience Easter processions, Christmas street markets and other festivities.
Example of a two-week programme:
- Monday: Presentation of the course and the activity programme.
- Tuesday: Visit to the Miró Foundation.
- Wednesday: Visit to the Picasso Museum and walking tour of the Gothic Quarter.
- Thursday: Visit to the Park Güell.
- Friday: Dance class.
- Saturday: Day in Cadaqués (Costa Brava). Paella by the beach. Visit to Dalí's house in Port Lligat .
Monday: Spanish culture, cuisine or dance class.
- Tuesday: Visit to The Pedrera.
- Wednesday: Spanish film.
- Thursday: Tapas in the city centre.
- Friday: Teachers vs. Students quiz evening.
- Saturday: Visit to Girona and the Dalí Museum in Figueres.
